Hi, I’m Katie.
Born and raised in the Bay Area, I am a dancer and teacher. Dancing since 1991 and teaching since 2000, I have trained in ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip hop, and contemporary dance, and I’ve taught dance at studios across Northern California. I am also a founding member of COterie DAnce Company (CODA).
I teach classes at Danspace in both the Children’s and Adult Divisions and support Danspace’s business operations.
I received a BA in Public Policy and Spanish Literature from William Smith College. During my college experience I also took dance classes every semester and participated in faculty dance concert, the student-run dance collective, and the step team.
Outside of the studio, I have spent the majority of my career working for nonprofits and purpose-driven organizations, supporting artists, small business owners, and community leaders to build hundreds of small businesses and organizations rooted in Bay Area neighborhoods. I have built and managed volunteer and internship programs, run marketing and impact evaluation departments, and implemented various programs that offer resources to communities in an equitable and accessible way. I live in Oakland with my dog Taz.
